JOHN LAKER has been involved in commercial property development for over 35 years.

 

In 2008 he founded Laker Developments and in 2010 was appointed by Dutch investor, Wereldhave, as the development manager for a major reconfiguration of the 1 million sqft ITIS Shopping Centre in Helsinki, the largest of its kind in the Nordics.

 

During the period he was also appointed acting Managing Director of Wereldhave UK and oversaw the disposal of its c.£300 million portfolio.

 

Previously, John spent 12 years as a director of Centros, becoming its MD and then Chairman.

Career highlights include:

 

• Asset managing shopping centres in Poole and Ealing for Wereldhave and co-ordinating their disposal to Legal & General and British Land respectively

 

• At Centros, John oversaw the company’s development pipeline – in particular schemes in Wrexham, Boston, Kidderminster, Maidstone and Bury St Edmunds

 

• During nearly 20 years at Wimpey Properties, he delivered Coppergate Shopping Centre in York and 200 Aldersgate, a 500,000 sqft office complex in the City of London, pre-let to Clifford Chance
