Chester Northgate

Rivington Land is working as development manager for Cheshire West & Chester Council on the delivery of the £300 million retail and leisure-led development of Chester Northgate. The 5.8 hectare site occupies a significant part of the north-west quadrant of Chester's city centre and the scheme is set to create a new quarter comprising:

  • a 100,000 sqft House of Fraser department store
  • a 6-screen Picturehouse cinema
  • shops, cafés and restaurants
  • a new market hall
  • a multi-storey car park for more than 800 cars
  • a new 167-bed, 4-star Crowne Plaza hotel with spa and conference facilities

LATEST NEWS: Following last autumn's resolution to grant planning consent and a lease agreement signed with Picturehouse Cinemas, House of Fraser has now been secured as Chester Northgate's retail anchor and Crowne Plaza's owners have signed up for the new hotel.

David Lewis is leading the development team with Mark Paynter and Keith Stone managing the leasing. Martin Ellis and Ian Reay are undertaking the project management.

The scheme will be developed in two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed in 2019 and the second phase in 2021.
